Two 10-year-old Medicine Hat Waves swimmers got an early chance at some high-level competition this past weekend in Cochrane.

Cambria Henderson Muryn and Kage Senft both did well enough in their early meets to attend the Winter Festival South Saturday and Sunday.

With more than 200 athletes invited — all of them 11 years old or less — the competition was fierce. Both did better in the 10-year-old divisions as opposed to the 11-under boys and 10-under girls.

Senft, in the boys 10 division, was fourth in his 100 metre individual medley, sixth in the 100 freestyle, eighth in the 100 breaststroke and ninth in the 50 breast.

Henderson Muryn, in the girls 10 division, was 25th in 50 metre breaststroke, 27th in 100 breast, 32nd in 100 individual medley and 42nd in 100 freestyle.

In the boys 11-under, Senft was 40th in 50 free and 76 in 50 back. Henderson Muryn had similar results in girls 10-under, 74th in 50 free and 79th in 50 backstroke.

The Waves have a couple weeks off on their competition schedule now.
