No Canadian in his own weight class seems to be able to beat him, so Janick Lacroix is starting in on other divisions.

The reigning 70 kilogram national junior champ from the Medicine Hat Boxing Club went to Regina to take on Quinn Neald this past weekend. Neald won the national 75 kg title earlier this year, and he was on his own turf, but that didn’t stop Lacroix.

“Janick dominated to take a unanimous decision,” wrote coach Kerry Fahlman in an email to the News.

Fahlman added that Lacroix was named top boxer of the tournament.

Lacroix continues to get more attention south of the border too. After impressing at the Roy Jones Jr. Tournament in Las Vegas this summer, he’s now going to Arizona in a couple weeks for the Gene Lewis Invitational Tournament.

Lacroix wasn’t the only Medicine Hat fighter on the card Saturday. Francis Ang lost on points to Saskatoon’s Gay Poe, while Stefan Judge had an exhibition match against North Battleford’s Danijel Ramac.
