Medicine Hat Tigers forward Gary Haden has been removed from the team’s roster after requesting a trade Thursday.

After playing in Medicine Hat’s first nine games of the season — logging a goal and two assists with a minus-4 rating in the span — Haden was listed as a scratch in Friday’s 4-1 win over the Prince George Cougars and was removed from the roster prior to Saturday’s 4-3 shootout victory over the Kootenay Ice.

“I asked for a trade on Thursday morning and was told to go home Thursday afternoon,” Haden said in a text to the News.

Tigers head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston said following Saturday’s game that the team plans to address Haden’s absence this afternoon.

Haden joined the Tigers in the trade that sent former captain Cole Sanford to the Regina Pats at the 2015-16 trade deadline. The 19-year-old Airdrie product went on to play in 115 games with the Tigers, recording 25 goals and 28 assists in the process. Haden suited up for 70-of-72 games with the Tigers last season.
