With the end of summer comes the end of farmers’ market season.

“It’s been a really great year for us,” said market co-ordinator Doreen Gunderson. “We’ve seen a lot of people come and go from the markets over the year and we’ve just had a really, really good year.

“Today is our final market and it’s packed. We had to move to a different location because we have so many vendors out (Saturday).”

While the markets stuck to their usual formula this year, the Exhibition & Stampede added a Wednesday afternoon market — a big success, says Gunderson.

“They got more and more popular as the weeks went on,” she said. “The afternoon markets gave us a nice variety.

“People love coming out to the Saturday farmers’ markets but some people can’t always make it. It’s also great for us to get some food trucks out on the Wednesdays — both of the markets compliment each other.”

There will be two markets held at the Stampede Grounds in the coming months — the Old Tyme Christmas market Dec. 6 from 4-9 p.m. and a two-day Farmers’ Christmas Market Nov. 9 and 10.
