The midget AA Hounds rebounded from their first loss of the South Central Alberta Hockey League season with a solid effort Sunday.
After falling 3-2 at Lacombe to the Central Alberta Selects a day earlier, Medicine Hat came out flying in Red Deer, scored five unanswered at one point and won 7-3 over the Elks.
Brandon Kasdorf had two goals and two helpers as his team outshot Red Deer a whopping 66-21. Matt Lafferty, Connor Miller, Levi Schlosser, Brayden Anderson and Austin Klimosko also found the back of the net.
Schlosser and Jacob Milne had scored Saturday against Central Alberta, but the Hounds never led and surrendered the winning goal with 14:17 remaining.
Medicine Hat, 2-1, finally gets its first home game this Friday against Okotoks, 7:15 p.m. at the Kinplex.
Midget 15s
The South East Athletic Club’s midget 15-year-old team split its weekend games, dropping a 6-5 decision at home to Lethbridge Friday before beating the Blazers 3-2 in Calgary Saturday.
Quintin Unreiner had two goals and an assist for the Tigers in Friday’s loss, while Ethan Machan, Calledn Prosofsky and Hayden Prosofsky added the other goals.
Machan had the game-winner with 90 seconds left in Saturday’s contest, after Hayden Prosofsky had tied the contest with 6:02 left. Braden Houle had the other goal in a game SEAC outshot the Blazers 55-28.
Bantam AA
It seems the Bow Valley Timberwolves have the Medicine Hat Hounds’ number in bantam AA play so far.
The Timberwolves spoiled the Hounds’ home opener Saturday, winning 3-1. Medicine Hat finished the weekend with a solid 8-2 win in High River Sunday over the Foothills Bisons.
Braxton Thornton had Medicine Hat’s lone goal Saturday, then scored four Sunday. Zach Hauck had two and the other goals came from Dawson Stewart and Luke Renschler.
Peewee AA
The peewee AA Hounds improved to 4-1 on the season with a pair of home-ice wins, including one that was seemingly over before it started.
On Saturday at the Moose Rec Centre, the Hounds beat Airdrie 5-2. According to the online scoring, Samuel Hynes had four assists, while Deegan Kinniburgh scored twice to lead the offence. Shots, however, told a bigger story as the Hounds outshot the Lightning 60-22.
Sunday’s game saw the dominance continue in a 22-0 rout of Chestermere. Shots were 72-16. Kinniburgh and Josh Evaschesen had five goals each, Deegan Bert had four and Beck Boiteau got the shutout in net.
