Robert and Ann Cheverie are the latest lotto winners from Medicine Hat, cashing in a $1 million prize from the Aug. 29 guaranteed prize draw on a Lotto 6/49 game.

Robert Cheverie got quite a shock when his wife Ann checked their Lotto 6/49 ticket and discovered they won $1 million on the Aug. 29 Guaranteed Prize draw.
“I was walking around the store, and I heard Ann screaming and freaking out,” he said. “I got to her as quickly as I could, expecting something to be wrong. But everything was good — great, actually.”
“We both had a hard time believing it was true,” continued Ann. “We just hugged each other and gawked at the ticket.”
The happy winners said they have a few ideas for their winnings, starting with bumping up the timeline on a long-awaited plan.
“We’re going to retire early,” said Ann. “That’s really the most important thing.”
Robert said they also plan to finish some previous home renovations and book a Hawaiian cruise.
The Cheveries purchased their winning ticket as part of a $24 Super Pack from Hat News & Tobacco on Seventh Street SE.
A super pack gives players tickets to a variety of lottery draws.
