The Medicine Hat Skateboard Association and The Lucky Squid teamed up Saturday to hold a Skaters Against Trafficking event — and raised more than $12,500 in more than 12 hours of work.

Tattoos, piercings and massages were sold at a discounted rate, with all of the proceeds going to the skate association’s next trip to help fight human trafficking.

A number of flash art tattoos were pre-drawn before the event, but people were able to bring in their own drawings if they were small enough to sketch up quickly for the artists.

The skate association says it is overwhelmed by the support of the community and the generosity of the artists who donated their time to the event.
