1931 – CLIFFORD WRIGHT – 2018

Clifford Wright, beloved husband of Eleanor, passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta on September 19, 2018 at the age of 87.
He was predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Myra Wright and his brothers Gary and Bob.
Cliff had many roles in life: husband, father, grandfather, friend, pharmacist, avid skier, reckless bridge player, theatre producer, photographer, sailor, hunter of geese and ducks, teaser of children and adults alike, and lover of all life had to offer. In his last few years dementia stole many of his passions from him but to the end his love for his wife Eleanor endured. He often said marrying her was the best thing he ever did. None of us argued with that.
Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Cliff left only to attend the University of Alberta in Edmonton where he completed his BSc. Pharm. and again to open Wright’s Pharmacy in Vulcan, Alberta in 1972. In 1986, Cliff and Eleanor returned to Medicine Hat and enjoyed their long standing friendships.
Cliff was always actively engaged in his community and participated in many local, provincial and national organizations and boards, making friends wherever he went.
He will be sorely missed by his wife, Eleanor, and by his daughters, Janet and her children Blake and Meg, Carol and Mike and their children Jack and Janet, and Tanis and Joel and their children Josh and Brooke.
As a family we watched the effect of Alzheimers. We share this poem with you so you can understand and have patience with friends or love ones that may be affected.

Alzheimer’s Request
Do not ask me to remember
Don’t try to make me understand
Let me rest and know You’re with me
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand

I’m confused beyond your concept
I’m sad and sick and lost
All I know is that I need you
To be with me at all cost

Do not lose your patience with me
Do not scold or curse or cry
I can’t help the way I’m acting
I can’t be different though I try

Just remember that I need you
That the best of me is gone
Please don’t fail to stand beside me
Love me till my life is gone.

Cliff was loved by his wife and family until his life was gone.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and NWT (on line at alzheimer.ca or 308, 14925 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T5M 2P6) or to the charity of your choice. A celebration of Cliff’s life will be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 504 – 2nd Street SE, on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent through http://www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Cliff Wright. 1981~ ALEXANDER SMYTHE ~ 2018

Alexander Forbes Smythe, the beloved son of Deborah Forbes and Calvin Smythe of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, September 18th, 2018 at the age of 37 years. Alexander also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Dominic and Ryker; as well as his sister, Zoe (Jacques); niece, Myriam; and grandmothers, Norma Campbell and Sally Forbes. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Norman Smythe, Jack Forbes, and Alf Campbell. Alexander touched many lives. Some may remember him as the adventurer, the life of the party, the charismatic charmer who could make any girl blush. He was also the nerdy little boy who played the cello wearing an excavator decorated eye patch. Like many, he had his struggles, but he was always a loving father and will be genuinely remembered as a brave, caring, strong man who handled the last two years of his life with more grace than most of us could hope. A Memorial Service will be held at THE ESPLANADE, 2nd Floor Lobby, 401 – 1st Street SE, on Monday, October 1st, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent through http://www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Alexander Smythe.
