Medicine Hat News The Medicine Hat Cubs continued their upbeat pre-season with an exhibition win over the Lomond Lakers Friday at the Kinplex. Chandler Aleman had two goals and an assist, captain Quinten Karg had a goal and a helper and the goaltending duo of Joben Douce and Brett Vanderveer combined for a 34-save shutout over the expansion Lakers. After getting nearly 50 players out to start camp, the Cubs sat at 28 after the game and will cut down a few more before their Heritage Junior B Hockey League season begins next Saturday in Ponoka. Mackenzie Fritzler, Alex Duclos and Brayden MacDonnell also scored as the hosts outshot Lomond 38-34. Medicine Hat hosts Assiniboia in two more exhibition games Saturday (3:30 p.m.) and Sunday (2:30 p.m.). 7
