MP Motz launches Youth Advisory Board focused on getting young people engaged in politics

Medicine Hat News In an effort to get young people engaged in politics, a local Member of Parliament is setting up a non-partisan Youth Advisory Board. Glen Motz, MP for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner, says the board will provide “an opportunity for young people from the riding to contribute ideas, suggestions, and provide feedback on topics within their communities that are important to them as well as issues being discussed on Parliament Hill.” The Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner (MHCW) Youth Advisory Board will consist of youth ages 16-24 from the riding who are passionate about having a voice and becoming a leader in their community. Youth selected to sit on the MHCW Youth Advisory Board will start in October 2018 and serve until the summer of 2019, and those who successfully complete this initiative will receive a letter of recommendation. “I believe that every voice matters and that’s why I want to give our youth a seat at the table,” Motz said. “As your Member of Parliament, I want to hear from our young people about what matters most to them and encourage them to become empowered leaders in their communities.” Motz said the program provides a non-partisan opportunity for youth and that potential board members of all political backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
