While it may be getting colder outside, the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association isn’t packing its board just yet.

The group is hosting a Skateboard Jam today from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Kinsmen Skate Plaza, and is hosting skateboard pro Chad Tim Tim for the night.

“We’ve got skateboard pro and legend Chad Tim Tim coming out and he’s going to be hanging out with us for the night,” said group member Davie James. “It’s a great opportunity for the community to come down to the Kinsmen and have some fun as well as getting to watch a pro skater do his thing.”

James says the local skating community continues to grow.

“I think this shows how strong the skateboarding community in Medicine Hat really is,” he said. “We had skating icon Jamie Thomas out last year and now we’ve got Chad coming out this year — we’re a really strong group.”

The event will feature a free barbecue and is open to people of all ages.

“You don’t have to be a skater to enjoy this event,” said James. “I think there’s a lot to see at the event — any time you can see a professional skater in their element is going to be worth it.”
