David was born on June 4, 1938, to Fran and Frank Dennis in Sutton-Surrey, England. During World War II his family moved to Birmingham to get away from the bombing in London. At the age of 14, he came to Canada to join his father, the rest of his family came later. He joined the Canadian Army at the age of 16, and served in camps Borden and Gagetown and in Soest, Germany. After the Army he went to work for the U.S.A. Dew Line in the north of Canada as a cook. In 1962, he met Pat while delivering bread for his family’s home bakery. They were married on June 8, 1963, and had five children. In 1980, Dave and Pat brought their five children to Alberta where Dave worked for Richardson’s Bakery, Sears and Central Park Lodge. He opened his own business “CSC Collectables” and ran it until the Southview Mall went bankrupt. He then helped Dr. Patel open The Valleyview and also assisted him with the opening of Orchard Manor in Brooks and The Columbia in Lethbridge. Following retirement, they moved to Suffield where Pat and David worked hard volunteering to build the community back into a vibrant unit, and the hall into an active place to go. He continued this legacy until his health deemed him unable to do so. David was an avid stamp collector, Dart Player – winning many medals, and a Lawn Bowler.
