Medicine Hat News Medicine Hat’s Ryan Hodgins fell three strokes shy of a title at the Maple Leaf Junior Tour International Players Championship in Jasper. The 16-year-old golfer entered the third round of the junior boys division tied for second place alongside Australian Corey Lamb, but it was the Aussie who climbed the leaderboard to clinch the title with six birdies and one eagle en route to a final-round 65 and a total of 210 — three shots ahead of Hodgins, who closed out 72-73-68-213. Hodgins dropped in five birdies through the final 18, including three on the back-9, while bogeying just twice, to finish at 12 over for the three-round event. Calgary’s Hunter Thompson — a 14-year-old who led the division heading into Thursday’s final round — ended up settling for a third-place finish with a 71-72-74-217. Hatter Sam Bratvold finished 34th in the junior boys division after shooting 90-78-90-258. 7
