The registration deadline is coming up for the biggest local mountain biking race of the year.
The Battle Creek Showdown happens Saturday, Aug. 25 in Elkwater, showcasing a brand new trail and kids event, but you’ve got to sign up by Aug. 19 if you want to take part.
The 670 Collective mountain biking club has been hard at work finishing off a new eight kilometre loop in the Cypress Hills, which riders have four hours to see how many times they can go around.
A smaller mini-loop is in place for kids as well. Otherwise the minimum age to race the big loop is 15 years old.
Both solo and team events will be contested, and it’s not all about who takes first, either. After a provided lunch, an evening social with a DJ and prizes will take place.
