Ryan Werre sank birdies on seven consecutive holes to earn the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club championship in Sunday’s second round.
Werre started up the streak on the fifth hole and kept dropping birdies through the 11th before finally evening out. Werre finished the day at 66 to close out at 140 on the weekend — three strokes ahead of second-place finisher Mike Valk.
Pat Hall won the ladies event after shooting a 79-83-154, while Becky Martin took second at 86-78-158. Cathy Woolfrey won the senior ladies flight with a 90-82-172, followed by Lenore Richdale at 96-89-185.
Ed Wagner took the senior men’s championship with a 73-71-134, besting second place Kelly Rissling by nine strokes.
Owen Burzminski won the junior event after shooting an 86-89-175.
