Woman charged with impaired driving after hit and run

A local woman took a wild ride on Monday evening that ended with an impaired driving charge.

According to police they responded to report of a hit and run in the 600 block of 20th Street NE  just before 11 p.m. on July 9.

A 2012 Hyundai Tucson was northbound when it struck a fence. The motorist continued driving and struck a parked pickup truck, pushing it into another parked pickup truck and the porch of a nearby residence.

The driver left the scene in the vehicle, being followed by a witness. The vehicle travelled west on 20th Street NE to Division Avenue, then headed west on 12th Street, nearly striking other vehicles along the way. At 12th Street and Brier Park Road the vehicle continued west through a fence and into field where it came to rest.

The driver, a 28-year-old from Dunmore was arrested at the scene.

There were no injuries and damage from the incident is pegged at $17,000.
