Police investigating attempted afternoon sexual assault

Medicine Hat police are investigating an attempted sexual assault that took place the afternoon of June 5.

According to police a female was walking on the paths near Division Avenue N and Seventh Street N.W. when a lone male grabbed her from behind and pulled her to the ground. The female screamed and struggled with the suspect, which caused him to flee the area. Police searched but were unable to locate the offender. The victim did not suffer any serious injuries.

The suspect is described as Causcasian, 20-30 years old, 5-foot-8 with an average build and wearing a blue hoodie and brown pants.

The MHPS Major Crimes Section is investigating and ask anyone who was in the area around this time and has any information that could assist with this investigation to call the Medicine Hat Police Service at 403-529-8481 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 -222-8477 (TIPS).
