Clarification of First Street detours

Medicine Hat News Out-dated information was included in an article regarding traffic detours around road work on First Street SW published on May 31. Last week city utility officials altered the route around the gas line replacement to move traffic up Red Deer Drive to Sixth Street SW. That is away from Chinook Drive, Prospect Drive and River Heights Elementary school — a previous configuration that was cited in the article. Officials say they are encouraging local traffic only to use stretches of First Street SW, south of the community of Harlow. 6-5
