It’s going to be a big weekend for dogs in the city.
The Flashing Canines Agility Club of Medicine Hat is hosting the Alberta-Northwest Territories Dog Agility Championships, an important event for the group.
“This is big for us to have,” said Flashing Canines member Gail Thompson. “The last couple years Edmonton and Calgary have hosted, so getting this is definitely exciting for us.
“There’s going to be a lot of people coming from out of town, so it’s just all around exciting.”
Each day will feature three events, with winners being picked by judges.
“There’s so many hours of work that go into training for this,” she said. “The trainers and their dogs work so hard for events like this, and the quality what we’ll see this weekend is up there for sure.”
The event will take place at the Redcliff baseball diamonds, just off of Broadway Avenue and is free for people to attend.
“People should expect to see a lot of talent,” she said. “The trainers and dogs are just so great at what they do, and the way they work around the obstacle course is pretty cool to watch.”
