1936 ~ CECIL KOCH ~ 2018
Cecil Koch, beloved family man and friend to all, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 26th, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Cecil leaves to cherish his memory his children: Randy (Cindy), Terry (Adele), Barry (Michael-Ann), Darren, Elaine Osadczuk (Brad); daughter-in-law, Heather Koch; fourteen grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; two brothers, Matt (Margaret) and Mike (Shirley); two sisters, Betty Miller and Clara Krassman; and numerous nephews and nieces. Cecil was predeceased by his wife, Lena; son, Danny; parents, Simon and Celestina; two grandchildren, Benjamin Koch and Amanda Osadczuk, both in infancy; and his sister, Agnes Plaxton. Cecil was born on April 19th, 1936 at Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. In 1955, he met Lena and they married in Medicine Hat in 1957 where they raised their family and lived happily ever after. Cecil worked at various jobs in the early days before starting a successful grain and feed hauling business with Lena, Cec's Trucking Ltd. After providing reliable and friendly service to his customers for many years, Cecil and Lena sold the business and he joined the staff of Alberta Highways and Volker Stevin Contracting before retiring in 2003. Cecil was a devoted husband and father, while still finding time to volunteer for several worthy causes. He was especially active with the Knights of Columbus and ACT/UCT. Cecil will always be remembered for telling a good story or joke, and for welcoming all into their home. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road S.E. on Monday, April 30th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Albert Sayson, Celebrant. A private interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Cecil's memory may be made to the Medicine Hat Chapter of ACT/UCT, P.O. It is with great sadness that the family of Clarence Frank, formally of Fairview, AB announce his passing on April 27, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Clarence will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Olga and his children Darcy (Jacinthe), Keith (Linda), Gordon (Berna), and Cheryl. Clarence will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren and his six great grandchildren, along with his many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Clarence is predeceased by his parents George and Clara, as well as his brothers Don and Allen. MARIJA MALTBY
January 17, 1941 ~ April 25, 2018
Marija Maltby, beloved wife of Ken Maltby, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in Redcliff at the age of 77 years. Along with Ken, Marija leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jasmina (Stewart) Scheuerman and their children, Mitchell and Savannah; Elaine van Montfort and her daughter, Rowan and Marc (Amanda) van Montfort and their children, Erikson, Keaton and Beau; special friend and the father of Marija’s children, Peter van Montfort. Marija is also survived by her family in Slovenia, sister, Lojzka; niece, Sergeja; nephew, Goran; three aunts as well as one uncle. Marija was predeceased by her parents, Oswald and Marija Breznik; sister, Sela as well as her baby brother, Oswaldchuk. Marija was born on January 17, 1941 in Ravne na Koroskem, Slovenia.On Marija’s second attempt to escape the former communist country of Yugoslavia, she chose Canada as her new home. Marija immigrated to Toronto in 1961 and moved to Medicine Hat on Halloween in 1975. In earlier years, she enjoyed macramé, ceramics pettipoint, crocheting and sewing. She was later employed with Canada Post for 21 years retiring in 2006. Marija loved her job and took great pride in her work. Ken and Marija were married on January 17, 1994 and had many good times together. She enjoyed travelling to her home country of Slovenia and receiving company from Europe. Her door was always open. She enjoyed watching movies and cooking but her most memorable times were spent with her family. Marija’s children and grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was a caring and loving mother who will be missed immensely! A private celebration of Marija’s life will be held at a later date. Frances ‘Fran’ Mary Schaufele passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, at the age of 62 years, beloved wife of Neil Schaufele, of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Jennifer (Troy) Bjelland, and Troy (Marlane) Schaufele, both of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Brody, Cooper, Saxyn and Lexus; one brother, Dermot (Anna) O’Neill, of Yellowknife; her brother-in-law, Brian Schaufele, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary O’Neill, one brother-in-law, Wayne Schaufele, and her sister-in-law, Jacquie Schaufele, as well as her father and mother-in-law, Ed and Esther Schaufele. A private family service will be held with Fr. Philip Le officiating.
