Trafficking meth lands Hatter 15-months of jail

A Medicine Hat woman was sentenced Tuesday to 15 months for selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer in 2016.
Kristy Miller entered guilty pleas in December 2017 totwo counts of trafficking meth, and abreachof a peace bond. Sentencing was adjourned sopre-sentencing reports could be put together for consideration.
According to the agreed statement of facts read into the record in December, Miller came to the police’s attention in June 2016 when they were investigating another individual, and on his phone found Facebook messages that spoke of him purchasing drugs from Miller, who was working to sell methamphetamine with two others.
Police used this information to contact Miller, and arranged two separate undercover purchases of meth from her of 2.68 grams for $180, and 2.2 grams for $180 in total.

A Medicine Hat woman charged following the largest seizure of methamphetamine in the city’s history had a brief court appearance Tuesday.
Defence counsel for Shonna Scriven told the court that the accused had applied to drug treatment court in Calgary which has limited spaces, but was deemed not an acceptable candidate.
Her matters were adjourned until May 1, where the next step will be taken by counsel.
Scriven remains in custody at the Calgary Remand Centre. She has secured bail following her arrest on Dec. 8 2017 where police seized 1.02 kilograms of methamphetamine and 226 grams of cocaine, worth an estimated $125,000 but has not applied for bail on other charges stemmingallegationsof trafficking cocaine between Dec. 2 and 5.
Police said the Dec. 8 arrest was the largest meth seizure in city history.
