Awards for exceptional vehicles from another era were received by two local residents recently.
Stuart Green won two awards at the World Of Wheels in Edmonton for his 1927 Model-T Ford hot rod. The car won best in its class and best engine.
Green has owned the vehicle for four or five years and acquired it after the restoration was done. For him the pleasure of owning a vehicle like this is exhibiting at shows, driving around and sharing it.
It may look fantastic but is not that comfortable to drive.
“It’s very scary, violent, like riding a roller coaster,” said Green.
Modern vehicles have been adapted over time to make for a smoother ride and this vehicle is a smaller car with a lot of power, he explained.
With restoration complete, most of the time spent on this hobby revolves around taking care of it and preparing it for shows.
Kevin Ross, Regent Classic Cars, won three awards at the World Of Wheels held in Calgary. The 1937 Ford three window coupe won best in its class, outstanding custom rod and a six shooter award.
The News was not able to reach Ross for comment on Wednesday.
