Medicine Hat News The Medicine Hat Waves picked up a whopping 22 medals from the Lethbridge Amateur Swim Club Winter Classic this weekend at the University of Lethbridge. Of the 18 swimmers the Waves sent to the event, eight worked their way onto the podium, four finished with at least two medals around their necks and Jaiden Riddell was simply unbeateable in the pool. The 13-year-old Waves swimmer won gold in all six of his events in the boys 12-13 division, which includes the 50 and 100-metre freestyle, the 50, 100 and 200-metre backstroke and the 50-metre breaststroke. Aaron Kruger also reached the podium in all six of his boys 14-15 events, winning gold in the 50-metre freestle and butterfly, silver in the 50 and 100-metre backstrokes and bronze in the 50 and 100-metre breaststroke. Fifteen-year-old Quirina Thompson topped the girls 15-and-over 200-metre butterfly and took bronze in the 100-metre butterfly and 200-metre individual medley while 17-year-old Anna Nozewski won gold in the 100-metre breaststroke. Twelve-year-old Jaivyn Barabe picked up a trio of silver medals while teammate Taigan Walker added a bronze in the girls 11-12 division. Ten-year-old Johnathan Marshall took home a bronze medal in the boys 11-and-under 50-metre backstroke, while Karsten Senft added a bronze in the boys 12-13 50-metre backstroke. 9
