1921 ~ ANN VETTER ~ 2018

Ann Marie Vetter of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Peter Vetter, passed away on Sunday, January 14th, 2018 at the age of 96 years. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Jane (George) Plaksey, Tom (Maria) Vetter, Marilyn Davidson, Norbert (Cindy) Vetter, and Donna (Rohdy) Hay; ten grandchildren, Shelly (Robert) Harvey, Cheryl (Kevin) Kalmring, Kevin Plaksey, Michael (Krista) Vetter, Jeffrey Vetter, Heather (Lanny) Wheeler, Erin Davidson, Kayla Vetter, Zachary Hay, and Jennifer Hay; five great-grandchildren, Braden Kalmring, Brooklynn Kalmring, Dakota Vetter, Tianna Vetter, and Carly Wheeler; four sisters and one brother, Eleanor Graham, Laura Rissling, Kay Gillis, Carol Leibel, and Leo Boser; six sisters-in-law; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her husband, Peter Vetter in 2008; her parents, John and Marion Boser; five brothers; and two sisters. Ann was born on the family farm near Reward, located in the Unity District, Saskatchewan. It was there that she grew up and attended the one-room school nearby. After her schooling, she worked on various farms in the district as a housekeeper. Ann met her future husband, Pete, in the Reward area and they were married there on October 14th, 1946. They lived in Reward until 1960, when they moved to Medicine Hat. In 1968, Ann went to work at the Medicine Hat Hospital employed as a dietary aid until 1979. Ann's passions in her long and active life were her family, preparing everyone's goodies when visiting, gardening, crocheting and lengthy long-distance calls with her sisters. Ann and Pete's retirement years were spent at home in their park-like backyard enjoying Medicine Hat's lovely summer weather, visits with their many family members, and enjoying each other's company. In 2014, Ann moved to Meadowlands Retirement home where she remained until the time of her passing. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, on Monday from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on Monday, January 22nd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Francis Tran, Celebrant. A Private Interment will take place in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery. 1929 ~ FREDERICK MACK ~ 2018

Fred Mack of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Emma, passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2018 surrounded by his wife and family at the age of 88 years. Besides Emma, Fred leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Lorrie (Paul) Guenard, and his three sons Terry (Melanie), Murray (Tammy) and Frederick “Darren” (Michelle). Also cherishing their grandpa are his ten grandchildren; Amy, Heather, Amber (Scott), Tyler, Troy, Cole, Meghan, Frederick “Braden”, Kiera and Jerika and his great-granddaughter Kinsley. He also leaves to mourn two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Christina Mack; his four brothers, John, Archie, Albert and William; and two sisters, Martha (Chris) Seitz and Emma. Fred was born on the family farm on March 21st, 1929 in the Ranchville area where he was raised and educated. In his early years Fred left home to work on neighboring farms, eventually returning to the family farm. In the summer of 1957 Fred met the love of his life Emma Jetter and they were married on August 2nd, 1958. He and Emma shared 59 years of marriage while raising their family on the farm and ranch at Ranchville. Fred’s love for the farm did not diminish with age as he was actively involved in the farm and continued to hay and run the combine well into his 80’s. The Mack family wishes to thank the nurses and staff on 5 East at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for the care and comfort that they provided Fred in his last days. The family also wishes to thank Patricia and the caregivers from Alberta Health Services for the respite care given to Fred over the past two years. The funeral service will be held at VICTORY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2793 Southview Drive SE on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Bredeson and Diaconal Minister Lila de Waal officiating, with a luncheon to follow. A private family interment at Hillside Cemetery will take place prior to the funeral service. Mr. Stanley “Stan” Runions passed away on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 two days prior to his 85th birthday. Stan will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Vera; two children, Garry and Marilyn; grandchildren, Camilla, Marissa, Aaron and Bryce; and 5 great grandchildren. MAZEROLLE

Peter Joseph Mazerolle passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the age of 77 years, beloved husband of Margaret “Marg” Mazerolle of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory three children, Chris (Annette) Mazerolle of Calgary, Mitchell Mazerolle of Toronto and Andrea Mazerolle (Robert Dale) of Chestermere; two grandchildren, Alex (Bowen) Lee and Franklin Mazerolle; one brother, Murray (Bertha) Mazerolle and two sisters, Anne (Mo) Burns and Eileen (Fred) Sharpe all of Fredericton, New Brunswick as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Edna and Bernard Mazerolle. Peter enjoyed a long career with the RCMP, retiring in 1998. A private family celebration of Peter’s life will be held on January 20, 2018.
