Medicine Hat News The Hat High Kwahommies shared the ball well on Wednesday night in Raymond, but fell just short of victory in a 78-70 road loss to the hometown Comets. Brooklyn Kaczynski led the Kwahommies with 20 points on the night, while Kyla Kearley added 15, Rhiannon Ware had 11 and Brettonie Stenhouse and Hailee Parker each put up 10, but the Comets were able to steal victory away after trailing 35-33 at the half. Lyvia Jensen had a game-high 21 points for Raymond while Ivy Jensen added 17 and Halli Barker had 15. The setback puts Hat High at 2-2 on the Southern Alberta High School Basketball League season. The junior varsity Kwahommies had better luck earlier Wednesday evening, eking out a 69-68 win over the Comets in a very equally matched game. Brooke King led Hat High’s offence with 18 points on the night, Jordyn Knight posted 14 and both Taya Karsten and Kyler Varga added 10 in the victory. Raymond’s Taylor Graves and Talani Iwaasa shared the game-high with 21 points apiece, but it wasn’t enough to hold the Kwahommies out of the win column. The victory puts Hat High’s junior varsity squad at a perfect 4-0 to start the year. Both Kwahommies squads continue their season tonight in Lethbridge against the LCI Clippers. 11
