DARR, Milton

January 28, 1932 – January 5, 2018
Milton Darr, beloved husband of Rita Darr of Lyalta, passed away at the Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Born on the farm in the Richmond-Burstall, Saskatchewan area. He attended the Progress, Process, and Flat Valley schools, he remained on the farm until he was 21. He then began working for John Deere which was his fulfilling employment for much of his life, making many friends and pleasant memories on his service calls to farmers. He married Rita Reasbeck in1967.
Besides his loving wife Rita, Milton will be missed by his children Laureen Darr, Wilfred Darr (Ziling) and James Darr (Brittany). He will also be lovingly remembered by Sophia, Everett, and Elliston Darr. Milton was predeceased by his beloved son Geoffrey Darr in 1980.

EDNA HERRINGER

1928 – 2018
Edna Olinda Herringer, beloved wife of the late Oscar Herringer, went home to her Lord and Saviour on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Edna, who was so eager to go home to heaven, passed away quietly in her sleep.
Edna will be deeply missed by her children Bryan (Susan) Herringer of Calgary and Shauna (Ron) Kinniburgh of Calgary; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Irene Ruckman of Calgary and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Oscar Herringer, her parents and fourteen brothers and sisters.
Edna was born April 3, 1928 to Michael and Magdelina Bauer. She was raised on the family farm east of Schuler, Alberta near Surprise, Saskatchewan. It was during these growing up years that Edna developed her deep faith in God. She moved to Medicine Hat in her late teens where she started working at Woolworth’s. It was in Medicine Hat that Edna met the love of her life, Oscar Herringer, whom she married on October 18, 1947. Their son Bryan was born in 1949 and their daughter Shauna in 1953. Edna loved life. She so enjoyed her friends and family no matter where life took them. They moved from Medicine Hat to Taber in 1966 followed by a move to Lethbridge in 1997 and finally to Calgary in 2012. In each of these locations Edna developed and enjoyed close friendships. Relationships mattered to Edna.
Edna was a great cook. She even got a Scotsman to enjoy sauerkraut! People would drive for miles to enjoy her home cooked meals and desserts. There was nothing that Edna enjoyed more than a good party with her friends.

ETHEL BERNHART

1938 – 2018
Ethel Jean Bernhart, beloved wife of the late Ted Bernhart passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the age of 79 years.
A reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 202 – 5 Avenue East, Bow Island, on Friday, January 12, 2018 between 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. A private burial will be held at the Bow Island Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Gerry (Don) Johnson of Bow Island and Shelly (Glen) Galipeau of Medicine Hat; four sons Darwin (Carol) Bernhart of Medicine Hat, Mike (Sara) Bernhart of Medicine Hat, Daniel (Laura) Bernhart of Redcliff and James (Jolean) Bernhart of Medicine Hat; sister Lee Doell; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ted Bernhart, grandchild Ashley Booth and brother Lloyd Lucas.
Ethel cherished her time as a caterer and restauranteur who immensely enjoyed feeding a great many people over the years. She was also an avid baseball fan who loved following her beloved Toronto Blue Jays through many seasons, good or bad.

GUS KIRIZOPOULOS

1945 ~ 2018
Mr. Constantinos ‘Gus’ Kirizopoulos beloved husband of Anna, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the age of 72 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Anna; children Demetre, Evangelos, Dominica; grandchildren, Drew, Ethan, Talyn and his brother, Harry Poulos. Irma Germain Major, beloved wife of the late Bruce Major, passed away in Bow Island on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 89 years.

She is also survived by her brother Andrew (Eileen) DeZaeyer; sister-in-law Carol DeZaeyer and as well as many nieces and nephews who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her husband Bruce Major; son David Major; great grandchild Mckenzie Hermanson; parents Gillon and Mary DeZaeyer; siblings Marguerite Reid, Martha Schayes, Gabrielle Henry, Joseph DeZaeyer, Jean Sloan, August DeZaeyer, Morris DeZaeyer, Louis DeZaeyer, George DeZaeyer, Jules DeZaeyer, Maggalena Lindstrom and Camilie DeZaeyer.
Irma was born to Gillon and Mary DeZaeyer in Lac La Nonne, Alberta on February 4, 1928. She spent her early life helping on the family farm and caring for her dad and two brothers after her mom passed away in 1948. Irma met Bruce at a Farmer’s Day picnic and got married on March 25, 1949 in Onoway, Alberta. Irma happily spent her years as Bruce’s helpmate, whether it was doing housework, raising children, tending animals or working out in the fields.
Irma loved playing cards, crocheting, sewing, knitting, reading, visiting with grand kids and great grandkids, eating potato pancakes and going out for coffee and fries.
Irma will be remembered for her sense of humour and wit, love for her family, love of farming and love for going out for coffee. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her four children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

WILLIAM “SONNY” BUIS

1938 ~ 2018
Mr. William “Sonny” Buis of Foremost, loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2018.
Sonny was born on March 26, 1938 in Foremost and spent all of his life in this community. At an early age he developed a very strong work ethic, a love for animals, and a love for the game of golf. His life was spent growing his business, first with his Aunt and Uncle with White Rose and many years with Shell. He met the love of his life Charlotte in High School and they were married August 6, 1960. Sonny’s pride and joy was his family and the community of Foremost. He loved nothing more than to spend time with his children and to watch his grandchildren play hockey, volleyball, baseball, dance and skate. He spent many wonderful days at the lake watching the kids on the water. He cherished the trips to Whitefish, Cruises, the Dominican, and most recently to Hawaii this Christmas.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Charlotte Buis; children, Lorne (Kerri) Buis of Foremost, Lisa (Warren) Bechthold of Foremost, and Chris (Ron) Preddy of Lethbridge; grandchildren, Taunie (Nathan) Magnuson, Colby Bechthold (Kayla), Kristen and Luke Preddy; sister, Alice (John) Haraga; brother, Richard (Jay) Buis; sister-in-law, Lyn Dillenbeck and many very special nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Dirk and Jantina Buis; mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Ann Dillenbeck; uncle Bill and Auntie Christina Buis, brother-in-law, Bryan Dillenbeck; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Carol Ewach.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, January 12, 2018 at the FOREMOST COMMUNITY HALL, 802 – 1 Avenue West, Foremost, Alberta. Inurnment to follow in the Foremost Cemetery.
