Medicine Hat News Today is the last day to pre-register for the Kiwanis annual Christmas luncheon for those in the city with no other place to go on Dec. 25. The deadline for pre-registration is noon. Those interested in attending can stop by the Strathcona Centre or call 403-529-8307 to ensure their names are on the list. The meal is free of charge and rides to the event are available by request. For those who cannot pre-register for whatever reason, the Kiwanis will also have an opportunity to register for the meal on the day itself in the Wild Rose Room at Higdon Hall located on the Stampede grounds starting at 11 a.m. “We would prefer to have people pre-register,” explains John John, one of the organizers of the event for Medicine Hat’s Kiwanis clubs, “but we don’t want to turn anyone away at the door either.” John says the meal is intended to help those with no other place to go so they will not have to feel lonely on Christmas day. “The thought is to have some company and some fellowship for the people who are lonely,” he said. “This has been going on since 1980, and it is completely free of charge.” 8
