Cubs face two tough tests in HJHL play this weekend

After snapping a five game losing skid last weekend, the Medicine Hat Cubs are looking to get on a roll this weekend with a pair of games against two strong Heritage Junior Hockey League teams.

Saturday the Cubs play host the the Blackfalds Wranglers at 7:45 p.m. at the Kinplex.

Coming into the game, the Cubs sit at a record of 7-12, while Blackfalds has a record of 13-6.

On offence, the Cubs are being led by Noah Irvine and Matt Clement, who have 25 and 22 points respectively.

Sunday the Cubs are on the road playing the Okotoks Bisons at 1:15 p.m. at Murray Arena.

Okotoks boasts a record of 14-6-2 on the year, good enough to lead their division.

Last weekend the Cubs were able to snap a losing streak that saw them drop five of six games in November, with a win Saturday over Three Hills.

Goaltender Josh Breznik has seen a lot of action lately, and has a record of 2-5 on the year.

Breznik has a 4.94 goals against average and a .873 save percentage in his seven contests.
