1926 ~ MYRTLE SCHMIDT ~ 2017

Myrtle E. Schmidt of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late John Schmidt, passed away on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 at the age of 91 years. Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Roy Schmidt, Jim (Joanne) Schmidt, Mike Schmidt, Millie Schmidt, Karen (Gerald) Dunham, Janice (Mike) McGee, and Annie (Marshall) Fletcher and their families. BUXTON, Rita

1946 – 2017
Mrs. Rita Rose Buxton (nee Schaufele), beloved wife of Mr. Roger Buxton of Red Deer, Alberta, passed from this life into the next, after a well-fought battle with cancer, at the Red Deer Hospice on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the age of 71 years. A life-long learner and teacher by profession, Rita passionately pursued many hobbies and interests throughout her life with 100% effort and enthusiasm. Rita loved spending time with her grandsons and provided unfailing support for her family, friends and community, who knew that they could call on her for help and guidance without any fear of criticism or judgment. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of fifty-one years, Roger Buxton, her sons, Blaise (Kelly) Buxton and Curtis (Angela Grace) Buxton and her g randsons, Logan Buxton and Callum B uxton. She will also be fondly remembered by her sister, Karen (David) Garland, aunts, Isabel Stripling and Naomi McCracken, sisters-in-law, Hazel (Chuck) Banush and Lera Buxton; brother-in-law, Adrian (Tina) Mohl; nieces, Kathleen (Neil) Jesske, Sheila (Joseph) Daraio, Kellie Garland (Kelly Dickie), Kelly Banush, Darcy (Lloyd) Banush Schulthies and Madison Elliott; nephews, Scott (Charisse) Garland, Michael Eadie, Mark Eadie (Helen), Brent (Jessica) Eadie and William Mohl; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Edna Schaufele, a sister-in-law, Shirley Mohl, a niece, Natasha Garland, and nephews, Ernie Mulenga and Derek Head. Rita's family appreciates the professionalism, dedication and compassion of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Cross Cancer Institute, Central Alberta Cancer Centre, Units 21 and 32 of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and the Red Deer Hospice. EVELYN BEATRICE WERNER (nee CAMPBELL)

Evelyn Werner passed away peacefully at the age of 95years, in Medicine Hat on October 28, 2017.
Beloved wife of the late Captain Alfred Werner. She leaves, cherishing her memory, sons Stephen (Cecilia), Derek and Phillip Werner and daughters Susan Needham and Beth Garn (Earl Heeg). Her grandchildren: Michael (Jennifer), Philip and Christopher Werner, Erin (Kevin) Linde, Derek (Jessi Caitlin) and Heather Werner, Stephanie McCarty (Luke Summers), Christine (Kristopher) Shearer, Maxine McCarty (Tim Crawford), Chase Garn (Cheyenne Knox), and Paige Garn (Kieran Veronneau). Her great-grandchildren: Zachary, Zoe, Saira and Easton Shearer, Brooklyn, Hunter and Holden George, Hailey Werner, Jaxon Garn, Kaiden and Kaylan Linde.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Lucy Campbell (nee Halls), an infant son David, her brother Howard and husband Captain Alfred Werner.
Evelyn was born in Edmonton on December 15, 1921, and received her schooling in Medicine Hat, graduating from Alexander High School in 1940. She continued her education in Calgary where she graduated from Calgary General Hospital School of Nursing in 1944.
Evelyn married Alfred Werner at the R.A.F. Chapel No. 34 in Medicine Hat on October 15, 1944, with the reception being held at the officer’s mess hall. Shortly after, they immigrated to England where their children were born.
The Werner family returned to Canada in 1965, and made Medicine Hat their home for many years. After the passing of her husband Alfred in 1965, and after raising her children, Evelyn moved to Cowichan Bay and then Victoria BC where she resided for many years. She then returned to Medicine Hat residing at RiverRidge Masterpiece Retirement Home until her passing.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. David Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. GEORGE SIMON "SY" POISSON

George Simon “Sy” Poisson passed away peacefully at the Riverview Care Centre on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 82 years. He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Joseph (Tracey) Poisson, Shannon (Russell) Stuber, Phyllis (Kelly) Carlson and Robert (Nikki) Poisson; twelve grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; one sister as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen; parents, Henry and Gertrude as well as four siblings. Sy was born on November 29, 1934 in Eastend, SK. and grew up on a farm there. He worked for the PFRA and was a ranch hand for numerous years.The family moved to Redcliff in 1970 where Sy worked as a ranch hand and later for Law Transport which later evolved into Orlick Transport. He then worked for the Town of Irvine for a period of time before following his heart back to his roots, buying a farm in Hatton. He was a true cowboy at heart and had a love for dogs. In the 70’s, he filled his spare time playing bass guitar in a band. After Sy’s health failed, he lived at the Valleyview and later the Riverview Care Centre. He loved his wife Ellen and missed her immensely after she passed. He was very proud of his family and the strong values he and Ellen had instilled in them. Ellen was waiting for Sy and opened the gate when he arrived. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at Riverview for the love and care they provided to Sy. June 28, 1926 – November 13, 2017
Mrs. Gladys MacGregor, beloved wife and best friend of Hector MacGregor, announces his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, November 13, 2017, at the age of 91 years. Gladys and Hector were married in St. John’s Presbyterian Church on June 2, 1951, the start of 66 wonderful years together. Along with Gladys, Hector’s memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family: son, Drew R. (Linda) MacGregor; grandsons, Kyle and Brett (Amanda) and their 3 month old daughter, Luna. It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Lloyd Gerald Heller, announce his passing on Monday November 13, 2017 at the age of 72 years. Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Paulette; his two children Mathew (Marie-Louise), Stephanie (David) Green and grandson Sloan; extended family Elizabeth Hargrave, and Papa to Hudson, Alec, Savannah and Isabelle; his brother Wayne (Kathy), nieces Anne (Lance), Rosalyn (Eric) and great nephew Ericson, aunt Erna (

Lloyd was born March 6, 1945 in Medicine Hat. He grew up on the family ranch in the Many Island Lakes Area. He graduated from Medicine Hat High School and went on to further his education at the University of Edmonton and Olds College. Once Lloyd finished college, he started working on the family ranch alongside his father Bill and a few years later, his brother Wayne.
Dad loved the ranch and was very protective of the land and his cattle. His quiet time was when he would drive through the fields checking this cattle with his four legged partner Sophie by his side
Dad loved sports excelling in curling, golf and baseball. Dad’s competitive curling started in High School where he teamed up with his brother in law Doug Pudwell, Don Bruins and Sandy Patience. Curling took him all around the country but two of his highlights were participating in the Canadian Masters in Nova Scotia and curling with his son Mathew. He was a kind and thoughtful man who was always there to lend a helping hand and make sure his family’s dreams came true.

MUTSCHLER

Robert Bruce “Bob” Mutschler passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 79 years, beloved husband of Delores Mutschler of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, Kenton (Irene) Mutschler and Carmen (Darryl) Washburn; two grandchildren, Isabelle and Kyran and a sister, Tina Hubbs; two sisters-in-law Lorraine (Lyndon ) Gegolick and Connie (Willie) Silcher. He was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Christian Mutschler and his siblings, Harry Mutschler, Ellen Oster, Dorothy Gill and Viola Dederer; Bob was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and raised in the town of Fox Valley until the age of nine. His family then moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta where he finished his schooling and began working in the parts department at Amos Motors. After a short time, Bob found his true path was in the printing business starting out as a stenographer at Val Marshall Printing. It was at this time that he met the love of his life, Delores, and the two of them started both a family and a business together. Bob and Delores owned and operated The Printer from 1974 until just this past spring of 2017. The Printer was not only a place of business, but a place to meet and greet family and friends as well. Bob enjoyed golfing, camping, archaeological trips, white water rafting and was often seen with his red pen handy to correct spelling mistakes on restaurant menus and in other print. He most enjoyed making others laugh. Bob always had a favourite joke or entertaining story to share. His family will remember him mostly for his love of Bluegrass music, his sense of humour and of course the song, “House of the Rising Sun”.
