Medicine Hat News Medicine Hat’s Jordan Taupert has been named to Hockey Canada’s selection camp roster for the 2017 World Junior A Hockey Challenge. The 19-year-old right winger has been taking the Alberta Junior Hockey League by storm with the Drumheller Dragons. In just 25 games, Taupert has logged 13 goals and 19 assists to lead his team in point production while sitting fourth in league scoring. Taupert spent his formative years playing with the Medicine Hat Hounds and South East Athletic Club Tigers before making the jump to the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Drayton Valley Thunder. The 5-foot-8, 155-pound forward joined the Dragons last season and finished the year with 20 goals and 31 assists in 58 games. Taupert will join 60 of Hockey Canada’s 100 invitees at Team Canada West selection camp for four days of practices and games starting Dec. 2 in Calgary. Team Canada West opens the World Junior A Challenge Dec. 10 against the Czech Republic at the RECC Arena in Truro, N.S. 7
