Bail was denied Wednesday to a man who allegedly crashed a vehicle on Halloween, ran around pantless —and was ultimately contained by a man dressed up as Batman.

Making an appearance before the Medicine Hat Provincial Court from the Medicine Hat Remand Centre, Nathan Learmont had duty counsel proceed with his the bail hearing — but failed to convince the judge he should be released.

Learmont was arrested by Redcliff RCMP on the evening of Halloween. It’s alleged he was intoxicated and crashed the vehicle he was driving into other vehicles. Upon exiting his vehicle, he pulled his pants down to his ankles and began acting erratically — including running into nearby yards, damaging property and yelling.

Coming to the rescue was a Suffield man dressed up as Batman and out trick-or-treating with his family, who helped contain the man until EMS and police could arrive.

Learmont faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and breaches of court conditions. Learmont also faces unlawfully at large charges, as he had been sentenced earlier this month to serve weekends — but failed to show up to the Remand Centre.

His next court appearance is set for Nov. 28.
