One man has been charged following a break and enter at a pub in Crescent Heights.

Police report that on Nov. 5 at 4:20 a.m. they responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at the After-Work Oasis.

Upon arrival, a witness provided cellphone video of the suspect’s vehicle fleeing the scene just prior to police arriving. Police recognized this vehicle as one associated to a suspect who had recently been charged with breaking into the same establishment on Oct. 5.

Police located the suspect vehicle at a local hotel on 13th Avenue SE, and set containment on the hotel suite known to be occupied by the suspect. The suspect eventually emerged from his suite and was taken into custody without incident. Police are still investigating. Search warrants are being applied to gather further evidence from the hotel suite and the seized vehicle the suspect used to allegedly commit the crimes.

The suspect had been out on $7,500 cash bail from the previous break-in, and is in custody waiting a judicial interim release hearing with the Calgary Bail office. Police are not naming the suspect until charges are sworn before the courts — but he will be charged with break and enter to commit, three counts of breaching his bail conditions and possessing break-in tools.
