1925 ~ HECTOR SCHNEIDER ~ 2017

Hector Herman Schneider, beloved husband of Violina "Vi" Schneider of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, October 30th, 2017 at the age of 92 years. Hector also leaves to cherish his memory one son, Doug Schneider (Nasim Karimi); one daughter, Gerri Schneider; one son-in-law, Brian Langevin; three grandchildren, Josh Schneider, Jesse Schneider and D-Jay Schneider; one sister, Irene Eaton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Hector was predeceased by one son, Robert Dale Schneider, in infancy; one daughter, Marilyn Langevin; his parents, Herman and Louise Schneider; and three brothers, Milbert (Naomi) Schneider, Bill (Edna) Schneider and Kenny (Mary) Schneider. Hector was born on July 25th, 1925 in Surprise, Saskatchewan and was raised in the Schuler district. He married Violina Eagle on June 30th, 1949 in Medicine Hat. Hector and Vi bought land in Maple Creek and created a successful pure-bred cattle herd for the next 25 years. In October of 1976 they sold the ranch and moved to Wetaskawin where Hector became a Hereford consultant. In 1983 they moved to Medicine Hat and worked the pure-bred cattle sales promoting the Hereford breed. Hector was a member of the Senior Slow Pitch, the Moose Lodge and the Connaught Golf Club where he enjoyed many games of golf with friends. 1934 ~ RON DOWLING ~2017

Ronald "Ron" Stanley Dowling of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Marie Dowling, passed away on Monday, October 30th, 2017 at the age of 83 years. Ron leaves to cherish his memory one son, Jeff (Renee) Dowling; one daughter, Terry (Allan) Schritt; three grandchildren, Derek Dowling (Jessica Van Soest), Bryan Dowling and Angela (Kevin) Guinn; one great grandchild, Brooklyn Dowling; one sister, Joyce (Raymond) Quast; one niece, Candace; and best friends, Ray (Gertie) Nesting and Glen Loewen. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Marie Dowling; his dear friend and companion, Charlotte Hartley; his parents, Stanley and Grace Dowling; and one nephew, Ross Quast. Ron loved his family, his friends, his big brick house and his antique vehicles. He proudly served the City of Medicine Hat Fire Department as Deputy Fire Chief for Inspections until his retirement in 1994. He participated in car shows and parades with his antique cars and rode with the MHVVC Club on the Web ladder truck often. He enjoyed camping with his van at Rattlesnake and flying to Arizona for little winter holidays in recent years. He attended his grandchildren's events and sporting activities and enjoyed helping out at Jeff and Renee’s acreage. Coffee at A&W was his morning routine. His home was his passion and he kept it just the way he wanted it. Sadly, he succumbed to a functional decline in health. 1943 ~ RUSSEL BALABERDA ~ 2017

Russel Daniel Balaberda, beloved husband and best friend of Donna Balaberda (nee Schafer) of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 and left this earth to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Russel made a personal commitment to accept Jesus Christ as his Saviour. He battled cancer for the last five years which in the end took his arm and his heart. He fought a hard battle to the end and now has gone home to be with his heavenly Father. Russel was born in Saskatchewan and was raised on a farm near Fenwood. He worked 33 years in the Boilermakers Union as a Welder and then worked 10 years for the City of Medicine Hat at his retirement job which he loved. Russel was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary; as well as his brother, Raymond. He is very thankful to God for giving him his wife, Donna, who was the love of his life, best friend and most of all his earth angel who took care of him in his time of need. Russel also leaves to mourn his memory his two daughters, Suzanne Jones (Paul Deminick) and Joanne (Ray) Gow; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Linda); two sisters, Rita (Henry) and Beverly (Keith); and one sister-in-law, Julie. Good-bye to a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. We will always love and miss you until we meet again. A special thank you to Dr. Duke, Dr. Lategan and all the other doctors and nurses who took care of him during his illness. Roxy McLeod

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Georgina Roxanne McLeod “Roxy” at the young age of 60 at home in Medicine Hat on Monday, October 30, 2017. She is survived by her husband Bruce McLeod with whom she shared 41 happy years of marriage, sons Scott and Jamie, daughter in-law Tanya, and grandchildren Nicholas, Taylor, Nolan and Justin. We are going to greatly miss her smile, sweet dance moves and kind, gentle, generous spirit. NOLIN

Robert “Bob” William Nolin passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at the age of 69 years, beloved husband of Judy Nolin of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his four children, Julie Nolin (her children, Nicholas and Benjamin), Jill (Richard) Shewchuk (their children, Jordyn and Preston), Allison Millions (Ryan Rollinson), Brett Millions; one sister Carol (Dennis) Granger as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Helen and Pat Nolin. Bob was a passionate outdoorsman. His true joy was fly fishing and hunting. He was very proficient at creating his own flies. He enjoyed many adventures camping and hiking. Bob looked forward to annual winter holidays in Maui with Judy. He highly valued time spent with his friends and family, and enjoyed sharing his hobbies with his grandchildren. Those close to him experienced his generosity and kind spirit. Bob was forever curious and continued to seek knowledge, he never stopped learning. He will be fondly missed by all who knew him. Interment will take place on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Hillside Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet inside the main gate to the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Following the interment service, everyone is invited to a celebration of Bob’s life which will be held in the Ortona Room at the Royal Canadian Legion (702 – 2 St. SE) on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. REYNEN

Joyce Ileen Reynen of Redcliff passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017, at the age of 92 years, beloved wife of the late John Reynen. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Russell (Mary) Reynen and Edward (Donna Johnson) Reynen; five grandchildren, Sean, Jason, Vanessa, Vonna and Ed Jr; two great grandchildren, Amara and Maddison. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Alice Hanson; her husband John on October 15, 1983; one son, Michael, in 1985; her daughter, Joy, in 2015; one brother and three sisters. Joyce was born in Tilley, Alberta, December 19, 1924, where she was raised and attended school. When she left school she worked at the Dominion Glass Factory and lived with her sister Lela in Redcliff. She loved to travel initially with her husband, taking their travel trailer to the Yukon, Alaska and Yellowstone. After his passing, she continued to travel with her friends going on cruises and visiting New Zealand, Australia, England and many places in Canada and the U.S.A. She was always active in her community and at the Seniors Center in Redcliff. She participated in many events – playing cards, Whist and Crib tournaments, bowling and darts. She was involved in square dancing and enjoyed listening to country and western music.
