A warrant was issued Tuesday after a man who pled guilty to drug trafficking charges in September was a no-show for his sentencing at the Medicine Hat Courthouse.

Paul Rasmussen, 45 at the time of his arrest, was set to be sentenced following a May 2017 drug bust where police say $33,000 in methamphetamines were seized.

He entered guilty pleas to 20 charges, including for drug trafficking and firearms. At the time pleas were entered, a judge granted defence counsel’s request that Rasmussen be released from custody on a $3,000 surety where he was required to live with his mother under 24/7 curfew in Red Deer, only allowed out with her supervision.

But come sentencing day, defence counsel for Rasmussen stated that the mother had contacted both himself and police after her son was no longer residing with her, and his whereabouts is unknown.

Rasmussen’s co-accused was also recently re-arrested in Prince Albert, Sask. after entering guilty pleas to drug trafficking charges, being granted release under strict conditions, and then failing to show up for her sentencing.

Siofean Coderre, 43, remains in custody as the Federal Crown seeks to have her extradited back to Alberta.
