Man charged with aggravated assault and arson on Bridge Street will have bail hearing Wednesday

Medicine Hat News It was a brief court appearance Tuesday for a man charged with aggravated assault and arson following a residential fire where one woman was hospitalized. Legal counsel for Chad Stadnicki requested an adjournment to Wednesday for a bail hearing for the 41-year-old man, who remains in custody at the Medicine Hat Remand Centre. Police reported Monday that the 32-year-old female victim remains in hospital, having suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries as a result of the fire. The woman was taken to hospital Friday after police, fire and emergency services responded to the 1100 block of Bridge Street after 6 p.m. That night, police blocked off the street while firefighters extinguished the blaze. The residence sustained major damage from the fire, estimated at approximately $100,000. 7-6
