Medicine Hat News The Medicine Hat Rattlers volleyball squads suffered a pair of sweeps Saturday at SAIT against the Trojans. SAIT’s Mark Anderson led the Trojans past the Rattlers’ men’s squad with 15 kills in a one-sided 25, 21, 25-13, 25-14 match. Medicine Hat’s Joao Pedro Freire topped the Rattler offence with seven kills on the night while Avery Triggs led the defence with 14 digs. The loss drops Medicine Hat to 3-1 on the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference season. The women’s squad suffered a strikingly similar fate Saturday. After dropping three consecutive five-set matches the Rattlers were pushed onto their heels by the Trojans in a 25-15, 29-27, 25-22 loss — dropping them to 0-4 on the ACAC season. Amber Stigter led Medicine Hat’s offence with 14 kills and added 11 digs, while Shaya Suchy dug out 19 to bolster the defence, but it wasn’t enough to force a set from the hands of the Trojans. SAIT’s Brooklyn Wolf and Erin Neufeldt both had a team-high eight kills. Neufeldt also led the Trojans defensively with 10 digs in the match. Medicine Hat College’s volleyball teams return to action Friday at the Snake Pit against the Ambrose Lions (1-1). 9
