Medicine Hat News The Canadian Country Music Association’s reigning male artist of the year Brett Kissel is Medicine Hat-bound. The rising country star will play at the Esplanade on Jan. 15, 2018. Kissel will be a busy man in the early part of the year. The Medicine Hat stop is one of 44 dates between Jan. 13 and March 24 on Kissel’s We Were That Song tour. Kissel, who has won the last two male artist of the year at the CCMAs, also won music video of the year and interactive artist of the year at last month’s awards. Already in his young career Kissel has had hits with the songs “Tough People Do,” “Cool With That” and “Airwaves.” He premiered his new single “We Were That Song” at the CCMAs last month, just after opening for Garth Brooks in Calgary. Dan Davidson, whose single “Found” was recently certified gold and will release his debut EP “Songs for Georgia” on Oct. 27, will open for Kissel.
