Cubs kick off HJHL season Saturday

The Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs will drop the puck on the Heritage Junior B Hockey League season Saturday in Didsbury against the Mountainview Colts.

The Cubs are coming off an 8-24-6 record last season, but enter the year sporting a new look with a blue-and-grey colour scheme after taking on a sponsor in the off-season.

Medicine Hat dropped both of its pre-season games to the Coaldale Copperheads, 10-2 and 15-2, though Coaldale finished last season with a 24-12-2 record.

Mountainview took the Northern Division banner last year after finishing the season at 29-6-3.

The Cubs return to the Kinplex for their home opener next Saturday at 7:45 p.m. against the Stettler Lightning.
