Wild chase ends in arrest of out-of-towner

An out-of-town visitor led Medicine Hat police on an unsuccessful chase early this morning and is now facing multiple charges.

The man, from the Red Deer area, was seen driving erratically in Riverside around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. When police attempted a traffic stop the fled in the vehicle. Police did not chase the man but instead set up containment around the area. After trying to breach the containment multiple times the driver of the Ford F150 ditched the truck and fled on foot. The man broke into a home where he was confronted by the owner and police were soon able to catch the suspect in a nearby alley with the help of the K9 unit.

The man is currently awaiting a bail hearing on charges that include possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, evading police, dangerous driving and four breaches of weapons prohibitions.
