Medicine Hat News It was an eight-month sentence for a man whose number of convictions in relation to stolen vehicles continues to pile up. Ryan Lee Bowden, 38, entered a guilty plea Wednesday to stolen property over $5,000 and drug possession following his arrest in early June. According to an agreed statement of facts, a Ford 150 truck worth $58,000 was stolen from in front of its owner’s residence in early June. On June 8, police received information Bowden was in possession of the vehicle. They began surveillance of him, and observed him driving the vehicle. Police arrested Bowden, alongside a female passenger. Police also seized a digital scale, two meth pipes and two grams of meth worth $200, which Bowden admitted were his. He received 126 days credit for time served. Bowden has a “long history of property-related offences,” the Crown prosecutor said during the sentence, which was a joint submission between Crown and defence. At last count, Bowden has been convicted in connection to more than 16 vehicle thefts over the past five years. 10
