The Cypress Hills Destination Area is hosting a long-table dinner harvest celebration Sept. 23.

Located midway between the Towns of Gull Lake and Shaunavon, this year’s event will be held at Pioneer Community Hall, a community-built building erected in 1921 where many weddings, annual sports days, dances and suppers have taken place throughout the years.

“It’s a site that really encapsulates what we’re trying to showcase,” says Gail Kesslar, executive director of Cypress Hills Destination Area. “A place where people have gathered for nearly a century to celebrate their community.”

The evening will also feature live music performed by a five-piece band, and a dance floor to dance the night away. A special sunset surprise has been planned for those who come out for the event. Pattison Agriculture will also be bringing in some of its machinery to highlight the changing face of agriculture in today’s world. Catering this year’s dinner will be provided Chef Garrett “Rusty” Thienes of Shaunavon’s award-winning Harvest Eatery and Fresh Market.
