Finlay Bridge closing for a few days for pipeline inspection

Medicine Hat News Finlay Bridge will be closed from Saturday for three to five days depending on weather and unforeseen issues. Pedestrians will still be able to use Finlay Bridge but only the east side. The gas department will be inspecting a 150mm (6-inch) pipeline attached to the Finlay Bridge structure. This will be accomplished by a special contractor using rope access.This routine work is to determine the integrity of the gas pipeline to ensure safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers. With Finlay Bridge closed there is likely to be additional congestion on the Maple Avenue Bridge, and there will be detours along Parkview Drive and River Road. 6-5
