Medicine Hat News It was a stellar weekend for Medicine Hat minor soccer teams, as two won provincial titles and a third stepped on the podium for bronze. At Leduc, the Rattlers Athletic Soccer Club under-14 girls won a Tier 3 title, going 4-0. Accoding to online score sheets they wrapped it up with a 4-1 win over PSA Manchester Sunday, highlighted by three Megan Morrison goals and the other from Rowan Prudhomme. Unless the online scoring was wrong, Morrison was a difference maker all weekend for Medicine Hat. She was credited with scoring both goals in a 2-0 semifinal win over Ardrossan, all nine in a 9-3 round robin win over Storm and four more in an 8-4 round robin win over WHU Extreme. Meanwhile in Lethbridge, the under-12 RASC girls were similarly unbeatable. They beat Foothills 1-0, MW Selects 5-4 and Okotoks 3-0, booking a ticket into Sunday’s gold medal game against Fort McMurray. Kenna Boechler had all three goals in a 3-1 win, while Ivy Hozack earned the win in net. While it was the girls teams taking gold medals, one Hat boys side earned some hardware too. The under-18 Rattlers boys took bronze in Edmonton, going 3-1 including a lopsided 9-1 win in the third-place game Sunday. Stephen Copeland had three of the goals against Edmonton’s Southwest Sting in the medal game, while Ethan Hudec, Ty Jans, Kyle Giesbrecht, Austin Heringer and Adam Khan had the others. Jason Simon was in net. The under-14 Rattlers boys wound up 10th in Tier 3, going 0-3. The under-12 boys went 0-3-1 in their event at Lethbridge. Last month at a tournament in Spokane the RASC under-18 girls won first place, beating a club from Wyoming 1-0 in the July 30 final. Jayda Krushel had the game-winner and Evanne Anderson the shutout. 10
