After being found by police in a stolen jeep with stolen Star Trek collectibles, one man went where many men have gone before: Jail.
Joshua McArthur appeared before the Medicine Hat Court Thursday by CCTV from the Lethbridge Remand Centre, entering guilty pleas to one count of possessing stolen property, simple drug possession and a failure to appear in court.
McArthur was arrested on April 18 of this year with a co-accused, Chelsea Linden, after police found them in a stolen Jeep Cherokee with a stolen licence plate.
Inside the vehicle, police found numerous items of stolen property, with an estimated value of $2,500.
The exact value of the stolen property is hard to determine, said the Crown, as Star Trek collectibles were among the stolen items. Police are in the process of reuniting the stolen items with owners.
McArthur was also found in possession of 0.2 grams of meth, and then failed to attend one of his court appearances.
As part of a joint submission, McArthur received a sentence of 25 days, considered time served due to pretrial custody.
McArthur’s co-accused, Linden, pled out and served 30 days earlier this year. Linden was also the subject of a missing person report out of Leader, Sask. earlier this month, being reported missing by her family. RCMP have since said Linden has been located.
