Waterton RCMP still looking for owner of unique wedding band set

Ongoing investigation into the ownership of a unique wedding ring set has led Waterton RCMP to believe that it is likely that these rings were purchased in Vancouver in the early 1970s.They were designed by a prominent jewelry designer and considered to be extremely valuable; not only cash value but likely sentimental value.

The wedding ring set was recovered June 25 during the course of an investigation.It is not known who owns these rings, but the RCMP are committed to getting them back to their owner.

Red Deer

RCMP are looking for four or five suspects after an armed robbery at a convenience store parking lot on July 6.

A man sitting in his car was approached by a man wearing a face covering and brandishing a firearm, demanding cash. When the victim refused, the suspect assaulted him and stole his cell phone. The suspect got into a 2006 Buick Lucerne, with possibly up to four more suspects.

This vehicle is believed to be stolen. Police arrived, and the suspect car fled at a high speed, with police terminating pursuit due to concerns for public safety.

In what is believed to be a completely separate incident Redcliff RCMP arrested a woman for armed robbery earlier that day.

Police responded to a 911 call at 9:15 a.m. at a convenience store, after a woman entered the store brandishing a firearm and demanding cash and cigarettes. The suspect assaulted a staff person and ran from the store, throwing the firearm into a waiting truck driven by a second female suspect, who fled the scene without the first suspect.

The staff person detained the first suspect until police arrived. This staff person suffered minor cuts and bruises due to the altercation.

RCMP took the woman into custody and located the suspect truck abandoned nearby with a rifle inside. The truck had been reported stolen out of Rocky Mountain House. One witness reported that they may have heard a child in the truck though no child was seen, and police cannot confirm if there was a child involved.

Lloydminster

RCMP have seized stolen firearms, found in a stolen vehicle. On June 26, police were on patrol and located a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Mervin, Sask. earlier in the month. When the officer attempted to arrest the individuals in the vehicle, the driver fled, and was then tracked down and arrested using police dogs. The passengers were taken into custody without incident. Within the vehicle were four firearms, believed to be stolen. Lorrin Wolfe, 26 years old from Onion Lake and Nicole Wolfe, 21 years old from Makwa Sahgaiehcan, have been charged with 12 Firearms offence and Possession of stolen property. A youth was also involved and is facing a total 21 charges.

Hinton

A head-on collision involving alcohol over the long weekend three people to hospital.

Hinton RCMP were dispatched to the collision on Highway 16 east of Jasper National Park on July 3, at approximately 11 p.m. A westbound sedan struck an eastbound transport truck head-on, causing extensive damage to the car.

Two adult passengers of the sedan were sent to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The driver and lone occupant of the transport truck was not injured. The driver of the sedan was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision. Several Criminal Code charges are pending against the adult driver of the sedan.

Sexsmith

Police are investigating mischief that caused damage to the Sexsmith Museum, Civic Centre, and Secondary High School. The buildings were believed to have been vandalized between the evening of July 4 and morning of July 5. Windows of the building were damaged, while items inside the high school were also vandalized.Medicine Hat News
