Extreme heat warnings are in effect for large portions of southern Alberta, including Medicine Hat and locales throughout Cypress County, the counties of Forty Mile and Newell and the Special Areas.
The forecasted highs for Medicine Hat for the remainder of the week all top 30 C, with temperatures climbing to 36 C on Friday, then 38 C on Saturday, July 8.
Heat warnings are issued with daily highs are expected to top 32 C for an extended period while overnight lows remain above 16 C.
That’s the forecast into next weekend for the local region, Brooks, Strathmore, Cypress Hills and Foremost as well as east-central Alberta.
According to environment Canada people in those areas should consider rescheduling outdoor activities to earlier or later in the he day, take frequent breaks when working outdoors, drink water or non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated beverages, and never leaves pets or children in a closed vehicle for any length of time.
