prevell@medicinehatnews.com @MHNprevell Three local pharmacists now also face charges of theft over $5,000, alongside fraud charges. The altered charges were filed Thursday in Provincial Court by the specialized prosecutor for economic crime who is now handling the case. Each were originally charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 — but these charges were withdrawn, and replacement charges of fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000 were filed. Legal counsel for all three appeared Thursday in court for their clients, with the next appearance date set for June 22. The court also heard that defence counsels have received early resolution offers from the crown. No pleas have been entered yet. Kathryn Kaiser, Evan King and Robert Stadnyk were charged in December over allegations that they received rebates and incentive payments to the sum of $1.6 million directly through negotiating drug purchases. All three worked at pharmacies owned by the Medicine Hat Co-op (now known as South Country Co-op), and have since had their employment terminated. 8
