STOBER

One breath here… the next in eternity.
February 9, 1926 – April 24, 2017

We are saddened to announce the passing of our much loved mother, Carrie Stober. Our Mom leaves a beautiful legacy of deep faith in Jesus Christ, continuous prayer and unconditional love for all her family and friends. She brought laughter to our lives and to our homes, always finding something to smile about. We know it was hard for her to leave us and equally hard for us to let her go. Mom was born February 9th, 1926 in Schuler, Alberta, the seventh of nine children born to August and Christina Reich. Her family moved to Medicine Hat in 1943. She attended the Christian Training Institute (Taylor College) in Edmonton before returning to Medicine Hat. In 1948 she married our Dad. She was a very astute business woman and the detailed manager of many of their business ventures. Mom was one of the founding members of Temple Baptist Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, coordinated many church lunches, participated in the Women's Mission Fellowship and attended countless showers for young brides and new mothers. Mom was a torchbearer and medalist in the Alberta Senior Summer Games excelling in Scrabble and floor curling. She liked to play Rook and other board games enjoying the camaraderie of her many friends at Chinook Village. Left to cherish wonderful memories of her are three sons and two daughters; Doug Stober (Sharon Maser), Lois (Perry) Yanke, Randy (Cathy) Stober, Valerie (John) Bechtold and Rod (Carrie) Stober; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one sister, Martha Keim and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four brothers, Gustav, Edwin, Bill, and Harold and by three sisters Barbara, Inez and Alvina.
We love you more than anything
We've loved you to the end.
You were our mother first
And then our dearest friend.
