Medicine Hat Police Service has issued a warning about a high risk violent offender being released into the Medicine Hat area.
Police say that on March 31, Allen Cayenne, 61 years old, will begin living in Medicine Hat after serving a federal sentence for sexual assault, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.
Cayenne is described as a Caucasian male, 6 feet tall, 229 pounds, with brown eyes, long grey hair and a medium complexion.
In advance of Cayenne’s release and believing him to be at high risk to re-offend violently and/or sexually and that there is significant risk to the safety of the public, and females in particular, police applied for and were granted peace bond that binds Cayenne to a number of conditions for two years.
Conditions of the peace bond include signing in at MHPS headquarters immediately upon release and on each Wednesday following, he must provide his address and inform police of any changes to that, abiding by a curfew, and he must abstain from alcohol, illicit drugs and other intoxicating substances.
In addition Cayenne can not leave Medicine Hat without first advising police of his plans, he can not possess any weapons and may not attempt to contact any of his victims of members of their families.
Medicine Hat News archives show that in April 2013, Cayenne entered a guilty plea Tuesday in a city court to one count of assault with a weapon and sexual assault dating from an incident on Sept. 8, 2012.
The victim and Cayenne had met previously only through the Internet, meeting face to face for the first time on the night in question, according to agreed facts.
Following an evening of drinking, the two returned to the victim’s residence where Cayenne grabbed the woman’s throat and sexually assaulted her by ripping off her shirt and fondling her.
The woman was able to escape after striking Cayenne in the groin and leaving the home, though, Cayenne remained in the residence and locked the woman out. The victim was able to regain entry into the home by breaking a window then grabbing her cellphone and contacting relatives for assistance.
The victim and two others re-entered the home with Cayenne then grabbing a kitchen knife and going into the basement. The victim, at this point armed with a crowbar, waited for Cayenne to return to the main floor and struck him as he attempted to stab the woman.
In 2013, the court heard Cayenne has four previous convictions for sexual assault stretching back to 1985.
Allen Rexford Cayenne, who is also known as “Butch,” has a lengthy criminal record dated back to the 1970s. As a youth in Medicine Hat, he was arrested on several occasions and served time in prison for fraud, break and enter, evading and assaulting police officers.
