Power out for a time in southwest Saskatchewan

By Medicine Hat News on March 7, 2017.

Residents of southwest Saskatchewan were without power for several hours on Tuesday afternoon while the eastern part of that province was hammered by a blizzard.

SaskPower reported that its customers south of Gull Lake and all surrounding areas experienced an outage at about 11:45 a.m. (CST), though repair crews were dispatched to the scene of mainline breakage.

SaskPower had yet to post an update by 4 p.m. CST.

Line crews closer to Regina had to wait until blizzard conditions subsided to reverse outages.

Saskatchewan’s department of highways reported extremely poor road conditions on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Chaplin to the Manitoba border. A number of secondary highways were closed completely as motorists reported whiteout conditions and cold temperatures.
